Sustainability Report PREVI 2009

Engagement and relationship with other publics

PREVI's relationship with Banco do Brasil is inherent to its existence. The relationship between the two entities results not only from PREVI's management of the complementary pension plans for Banco Brasil employees, but also from an agreement assigning several Banco do Brasil employees to PREVI's staff, and of several initiatives carried out jointly, making use of their synergies and enhancing their results.

One of the most important joint initiatives for both organizations was PREVI's participation in the construction process of Banco do Brasil's Agenda 21, a kind of action plan with regard to socio-environmental responsibility. Since some years, PREVI participates in the up-dating process of that document.

PREVI participates also in the effort of promoting and divulging a program to convey a part of employees' income tax payments to "Fundo de Infância e Adolescência"(Children and Teenagers' Fund), promoted by Banco do Brasil. The collection campaign aims at benefiting children and teenagers in risky situations, by means of projects supported by that fund.

A partnership between PREVI, Banco do Brasil Foundation, Sauípe S/A, and the Ministry of Work and Employment, ongoing since 2003, the Berimbau Program aims at providing better living conditions to the residents of the communities in the vicinity of Costa do Sauípe leisure resort, in Bahia.

That program is active in the fields of education, employment and income, and serves a population living mostly below the poverty line.

At present PREVI holds meetings with employees of Banco do Brasil Personnel Management Departments to up-to-date information for presentation of the benefit plans PREVI Futuro and Carteira de Pecúlios (Capec) whenever bank's new employees take office. The fourth meeting of the kind, held in Rio de Janeiro, in2009, had as main subjects the importance of financial and pension plan education, the present economic context, issues concerning taxation and investments profiles.

During the following years, the continuity of the implementation process of PREVI's Socio-environmental Responsibility Policy should generate new opportunities for the approximation and joint activities of both institutions.
