A brief historical description

PREVI's activities related to sustainability and socio-environmental responsibility dates back to 1997, with the publication of its first Social Balance Sheet.

Since then, this entity has taken important steps such as its affiliation to Instituto Ethos de Empresas e Responsabilidade Social, and its collaboration in the reformulation of Princípios para o Investimento Responsável (PRI). More recently, PREVI has formalized its Política de Responsabilidade Socioambiental, which has unfolded into a series of new programs and initiatives.

During 2008 and 2009, PREVI set up goals which prioritize certain actions to be implemented.

Among the realizations of that period standout the initiatives related to the process of elaborating the RSA Policy; the encouragement to observe RSA practices in transactions involving securities and real estate; the participation in forums and external initiatives in order to accumulate the necessary know how in order to assist corporations in which we invest as well as PREVI representatives in those outfits; to incentive and follow up the implementation of initiatives relative to sustainability in the companies and ventures in which PREVI invests.

The actions planned for 2010 were aligned to the strategic objective of the implementation of Política de Responsabilidade Social (Social Responsability Policy) and will comprise initiatives in the fields of communication, education, engagement, adjustment of structures, organizational proceedings and follow-up.

Among the actions contemplated, outstand the following: the development of an external and internal communication plan related to the RSA policy; to identify the need for technical and managerial training and the alignment of the other internal programs to the RSA Policy; the articulation of initiatives aiming at the engagement of other publics to the aspects covered by such policy; to review and align the internal regulations to the new RSA policy; the definition of goals, indicators and processes for the systematic evaluation of the initiatives under consideration.
